The procedures for configuring your totalizer can be found in your user manual. Don't have a manual? They are available for download here.
Do you have a Chessell 340 or 392 Recorder? Click here.
(or what is a Totalizer Factor anyway?)
All Chessell Recorder totalizers act in the same way. The value of the input channel or DV is divided by the factor each secondand the result is stored. Whole numbers are sent to the totalizer value as they are accumulated. The basic factor is the number of seconds in the measured unit-of measure, i.e.
EXAMPLE: A flow of 100 GPM would have a factor of 60 (seconds). Each second at a constant 100 GPM, 100/60 would be stored. At the end of 60 seconds, the value would be 100/60 X 60 or 100 GAL.
The main difference between the different model recorders is how this factor is formatted. In the 340 and 392 recorders, it is in the following format (scientific notation):
While 4xxx recorders use simple multiplication:
The factor in a 5000 series recorder is entered solely as the period scalar. In either case, any scaling should be done by adjusting the unit scalar. The period scalar should be left as shown below.
